It's been a while.. We've been on shows, the biggest one to Tallinn with our friends Antti, Marina & Yatzi. Saphira competed against two other junior-bitches in hopes of winning the Estonia Junior Winner 2009-titel. The judge gave us our first "excellent"! She got second, but her sister Nova won, and that's great (good blood flows in these girls veins) :). Big Congratz to Nova, both for the winner-titel AND the EST JCH-titel she got when she has earned 3 JUN CAC in Estonia. The trip tio Tallinn was over all fun (why wouldn't it be when your among good friends?) and Saphira got to meat up with Nova two times to play. On one of theese occations Yatzi joined us and fell in love with Nova <3 Fira was ofcourse jealous, on both of them!

Today I went on the agilitytraining with Saphira. She likes it a lot. Since it's just agility for beginners we take one or two new fences a time.Today we managed the A-fence, and after a few carefully taken steps, she run over it without a problem.

Marica went to the "KennelRehu-truck" today and bought 8 kilos raw chickenwings, 5 kilos soft bones from beef and also 10 kilos minced meat. Thinking of begining with "BARF" but have to learn som more. Saphiras stomach isn't in that good shape at the moment, "1st Choice" doesn't suit her anymore. I'm however used to calculate what one should give horses, unfortunatly it isn't that simple with dogs I believe, but let's see...

Saphira bled quite exactly in 3 weeks. She was dewormed 20.04 and 05.05 she got her vaccinations for this year. The general health check didn't show anything abnormal, so Saphira's in good condition.

Last Sunday Saphira went to VAS's Match Show. Red ribbon but went no further, but Nemo, anoteher blue Great Dane became BIS2! Fun to see aother dane here in Vasa :)
Today we've been on Vasa International Dog show, red ribbon (VG) and JUN1. Saphira was most happy she got to meet sister Nova again! See pictures from the show in the gallery.

The spring's match shows has begun! Today we (Fira, Anders and Marica) went to Citymarket's parkinglot in Stenhaga with Fiffi and Bobi. OCA arranged the Match Show. Since Saphira's not yet over 1 year old, she participated in the puppy-class. We got a red ribbon and in the "red-ribbon-group" we were 2nd and got a cup! Fira was a bit afraid of the judge today, but otherwise she behaved well.

Fiffi and Bobi got a red ribbon too,, in the class for small dogs. They ALMOUST got a cup too, but unfortunally they came 5th and was the first without prize.
I think we all had fun today, though it was a bit cold inside the cave and we rather had been outside in the sun.

February 24-26, 2009

Saphira and all the cats got Axilur. Called the vet. some days ago to ask about Saphira's sneezing, which has accured after her running fast and playing on the ice. We should call again if the sneezing don't stop, but it's not severe.

Today we've been to Tampere on a dog show for the FCI group 2. Saphira behaved well but was a little "slow" and sleepy, maybe because o the cartrip. I (Marica) was so nervous before showing the dog that Ithink Saphira tryed to calm me down by beeing very calm :) That's also a theory...

She is a bit long in the body and the judge gave us a red ribbon (VG). The two other junior-girls got pink ribbons. They were sisters. The one who won the junior class became BOS! Congrats to her!

February 7-8, 2009

I've been on a course for breeders. Marita Utter was our teacher. I got to meet new nice dog-people and learned a lot, especially from the discussions. I've always been interested in all kind of breeding. If my horse wasn't just "half-the-man" he could be, or even better, a mare, he/she wolud have many foals by now :P And when the time is right, or goat will get babies too... So i really hope that Saphira one day gets to have babies, we'll see how good breeding material she'll be. But that is something to think about in the future!

I passed the test with points over avarage! Nice =)

Yesterday we went to Top Dog show in Turku. Saphira behaved better than expected. She wasn't afraid of the judge at all, which is a bit odd since Saphira's afraid of anything and everything at the moment...

I was very nervous. It was my first official class ever at a dog show. Thanks to Heidi, for guiding me at my unsure moments! Heidi is Saphiras sister Novas owner. We also met Jaana, who owns their brother Leonidas "Leo".

Saphira gets company at home every day since daddy (Anders) is at home sick. He hasn't gone to work for a moth now I think. Saphira like! When I (Marica) go to work in the mornings my darlings sleep, and later on when they wake up they lay togheter in the bed and relax, dog life at its best.
Today we went to my parents and my brother was visiting (he lives in Vasa). He joined our walk with Saphira. We walked to the woods and Fira got to search for Marica and Anders one at i time. She found us!

Measured Saphira today. Our lady is now 78 cm!
Other things we've accomplished today is visit Maricas parents and before that we went to Åminne to take a walk on the ice. It was a lot of water on the on the shore, so we didn't dear to go over. We just watched a man with his to german shepherds run aroud on the ice. Saphira got to play with a tibetan mastiff named Igor. A very beautiful 3 year old guy.

Helu and Saphira

Today me and Saphira went on a ride. Odd when one hasn't been on horseback on a long time (currently a friend rents our horse), and then gets the idea to ride when it's freezing outside! - 15 degrees and my toes didn't have much life left when we were done. Saphira very behaved well. Most of the time she kept calm, but a few times she "fliped" and went running around us barking. This was the second time she came along with me on horseback, and the first time we went cross country, so I think she's quite a good girl! By the way, her rashes and fever went down after a few days and some cortisone-pills.

Saphira has got fever: 39,5 degrees. Not that dangerous, but she's got a lot of odd skin rashes too, like she'd have an allergic reaction. Best to not take riskes since her skin rashes began showing a little allready the day before yesterday, and with the holiday coming up. We went to the only vet who was avalible this time in the evening. She too thought it was some allergic reaction and Saphira got a pair of injections and the same pills as Anders eats for the two next days. Our theory: fertilizers in the water we went swiming in by mistake.

Me, Saphira my best friend Marina and Yatzi went on a long walk on Söderfjärden today. Felt nice to walk after all the good food thet has been eaten during the x-mas. When we were in the very middle of Söderfjärden Saphira thougt she could walk over the ice on a larger ditch or brook. She was right! But on the way back (me and Marina had allready paniced, since my aunts labrador retriver died this way) the ice broke and Saphira fell down in the cold water, her head and maybe her frontpaws was abowe the ice but she was in an impossible situation which she couldn't manage herself. I crawled out on the ice with a grip on a birtch on the side of the ditch, crossed the ice in front of the dog (I got to swim! To bad there weren't a sauna nearby!) so that she could climb up. Now my adrenalinrush was over andI felt the cold! Brrr.. My lovely friend Marina shared her clothes with me and her boyfriend Antti came to pick us up with the car. Then our friends took good care of us in their appartment! Warm and dry clothes an hot drinks. Thanx to these wonderfull people!

Me and Sapira in the ring in Jyväskylä.

We (Marica, Anders and Saphira) started our trip to Jyväskylä aroud 03 am. Horrible time to wake up when one loves sleeping! Anyway, we had borrowd my dads GPS so it wasn't that hard to find the right way, until we came really near our goal... When we found where to park the car and go inside to the area were the dogshow was held it went pretty good. We were early (for once) and could take our time to eat and relax outside the ring. Before the puppyclass started at 10 am Saphira got to meet her sister, whom she hasn't seen since she lived in Iisvesi with her mommy. Saphira liked! :)
In the ring it felt like all of Saphiras energy disapeared for no reason, and she wouldn't stand still when she should have. The judge seemd to like her anyway and gave her HP and BOB-puppy price! What a good day! Bought bones and went home before the blizzard increased.
